A Coot, or Mud Hen, Diving for Lunch

Came across a Coot, or a Mud Hen, on the beach today at Kootenay Lake, BC.  He seemed quite adept at catching his lunch - whatever it was - I never did figure out what he was catching!  My next post is a video of him diving if you want to see him in action. My Husband thought it might be dragonfly nymphs he was diving for, which led me to look those up and the life cycle portion of the dragonfly is certainly interesting reading!

Have you ever noticed different birds have different coloured legs?  I see the Coot has green legs!  Certainly an interesting bird with the very short tail and wings.
