I was trying to have a nap this afternoon when all of a sudden this thunderous roar shook the house and when I ran outside to see what on earth was happening, I was utterly astonished to see the Martin Mars Water Bomber flying over our house!! It made several more passes during the afternoon, scooping up water from Kootenay Lake to to dump on a wildfire near Destiny Bay, BC and another one near Nelson, BC.
It was also interesting to watch the spotter plane, or Bird Dog, flying ahead or behind the water bomber looking out for wayward boaters etc. This plane has a siren they sound if you're on the water to alert you to the fact you may be in danger!
