Hoary Redpoll or Common Redpoll?

This little bird caught my attention because of the orange patch on his head.  His beak looks like it might have some orange on it as well.  I believe, after checking the Cornell Lab of Ornithology website, that this is a Hoary Redpoll rather than a Common Redpoll. It is lighter in colour and does not have the pinkish feathers on it's breast.

This bird was spotted March 1st, 2013 in the Gray Creek, B.C. area close to Kootenay Lake.

If anyone has any comments, ideas or suggestions, I’d be very interested in hearing them – perhaps it is not even a Redpoll!!  Clicking on the pictures will enlarge them.

Wonderful photos! I have been hearing more birds each day. Soon they will start to show themselves.
