Kootenay Lake Ferry
The Osprey Ferry is one of two ferries that cross Kootenay Lake, BC. The Osprey is year round while the smaller ferry, The Balfour, is only used during the summer months. Always a wonderful view and and with a 35 minute crossing, you'll have time to grab a coffee or quick lunch from the Osprey's lunch counter.

Is It An Hour Yet?
I got quite a charge out of these seagulls sitting in front of the One Hour Parking Sign while we were waiting for the Osprey Ferry at the Balfour Ferry Landing.

1 Hour Parking
Waiting for the Osprey Ferry at Balfour, B.C., I was watching the speckled bird prance around looking for tidbits, when the Seagull swooped in and chased him off. Apparently the Seagull was the parking attendant and the speckled bird had overstayed his 1 Hour Parking limit!

Balfour, B.C.
Balfour, B.C. is a picturesque small Village near Kootenay Lake. Below are photos taken showing some of the marinas with the Purcell Mountain Range in the background. The second photo also shows the Osprey Ferry coming in.
Mallards at Balfour, B.C.
While waiting at Balfour, B.C. for the Osprey Ferry that takes you across Kootenay Lake, a popular past time is to watch the Mallards as they swim and waddle around the beach. The nearby restaurant, Lang's Marina & Snack Bar, sells bird seed if you wish to feed the ducks.
