Cold Sunny Day

We don't get that many true sunny days on Kootenay Lake in the winter, but when we do, it takes my breath away.  All the various blues set off the white snow and clouds and even though it's cold, it's a beautiful day.

Banff National Park

We had the opportunity to drive the highway through Banff National Park this summer.  We've been on this highway many times and it never fails to take my breath away.  One feels insignificant among the towering mountains and around every corner is another vista to amaze you.

Rain, Fog, Sunshine and a Bear!

Interesting drive to Creston today along Hwy 3A on the east shore of Kootenay Lake.  Rain, fog, sunshine and a bear!

This much snow seems early this year

The south end of Kootenay Lake

The quaint little spot of Sirdar

This is the bear - I realized after I took the picture and looked up that I had got him by chance in the picture!

Coming into Creston - not a great shot, but was fascinated how it came out

The colours are so beautiful now!

Cranbrook, B.C.

We recently visited Cranbrook, B.C. and I am always amazed at the spectacular setting of this City.  The Rocky Mountains make a beautiful backdrop and are stunning at sunset.

Driving to Kootenay Lake Ferry

Even if you don't take the Kootenay Lake Ferry, the drive along the East Shore of Kootenay Lake is still spectacular.

Riding the Kootenay Lake Ferry never gets old with views like this (plus it's free):

Things That Go Bump…

......in the ground and on logs, rocks and trees. It's quite interesting to walk through a forest and look at all the different things that grow up from the ground, on dead logs, trees and rocks - here are a few I found:

A very small mushroom

Some more very small mushrooms
- it's quite astonishing how many different kinds of mushrooms there are!

These mushrooms look almost luminescent

This growth looks like something out of a cow pasture!

They come in all sizes, shapes and colours!

In Motion

Kootenay Lake can have some wondrous waves. These were small but still captivating.

Neon Lights

Having fun with Picasa again – this time taking a regular photo and clicking on Neon. Interesting results! I also added borders.

Glorious Sunset

I never get tired of taking sunset pictures - they are all different and all spectacular!  Both of these were taken from the East Shore of Kootenay Lake, B.C.

A Spectacular Spring Day

Although it wasn't officially spring yet, I still consider March 1st spring!  Mother Nature likes these late blasts of winter it seems.  This was taken on Kootenay Lake looking North towards Crawford Bay, B.C.

Moonlit Nights

I love the moon and it's a very interesting thing to photograph. These were taken with the Canon Rebel T3 using the Landscape Mode.  The second picture has the residue of a street light, but it does create an interesting picture.

These next two pictures are the same picture but with different treatments - I liked them both so decided to post both.

Trees and Rocks

It always amazes me where trees grow out of - this one looks as though it came straight out of the rocks!

Sunset and Insects

This was quite a fascinating picture when I downloaded it - I took it for the sun setting and also ended up with all the little bugs that were flying around!

Video - Kootenay Lake

I found a video service called Animoto, through a recommendation on Paul Burwell's Wildshots Blog - was easy, fun and free for a 30 sec video. You upload your own pictures, pick music and they put it together.
